My philosophy for drumming has always started with fun. If it's not fun to play it's not going to be as fun for the listener to enjoy actively. And you want people to move because there's so much movement in what I'm doing. I've always believed in creating space and air in every part to give things as much energy as a song needs.
Everyone always says it's hard to narrow down their influences so I'll give you 50. No, I'll just give you five. I'll go with Buddy Rich, Ringo, Dave Grohl, Tim Alexander, and Vinny Colaiuta. Those are five energy guys. I'm constantly finding new things in them even when I've heard their work hundreds of times before. It gives us the freedom to come up with new ideas because those guys have covered so many styles.
I went to school at Musicians Institute here in LA, and before that got to play Carnegie Hall with my high school band. We founded Niantic in 2009 when we would sneak into the drum rooms at MI after hours, and have been recording and touring ever since. We've got a few new things coming your way and I'm excited to find out what they are... because one of the best things about this job is that I don't always know what's going to inspire me next.
Everyone always says it's hard to narrow down their influences so here's fifty. No, let's narrow it to the top five. Buddy Rich, Ringo, Dave Grohl, Tim Alexander, and Vinny Colaiuta. Those are five energy guys. Chris is constantly finding new things in them even when we've heard their work hundreds of times before. It gives his projects the freedom to come up with new ideas because those drummers before him covered so many styles.
Chris went to school at Musicians Institute here in LA, and before that got to play Carnegie Hall with Nordhoff Hugh's acclaimed high school band. After that he co-founded Niantic in 2009, sneaking into the drum rooms at MI after hours, and have been recording and touring ever since. They've got a few new things coming your way so get excited to find out what they are... because one of the best things about this job is that even Chris doesn't always know what's going to inspire him next.Type your paragraph here.
